Another “Animal Crossing” Summer Update Is Coming
It will include firework shows, dream lands, and more
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is releasing a second summer update on July 30, including more events and abilities seen in previous versions of the game. Nintendo announced the new features Tuesday after hinting at them during the first summer update, when players were finally given the ability to swim in the deep blue sea.
Changes to the game this time around will include a firework show every Sunday night in August with a customizable fireworks display. The sneaky character Redd will also be selling items such as sparklers, bubble wands, and boppers (yes, that is the real word for those headbands with two springs on top of them).
The update also includes the ability for players to visit other islands in their dreams, a feature which debuted in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, and introduced the character Luna. The friendly dream guide helps players visit islands where they are allowed to essentially do whatever they please, and not affect the real version of the island. If the rules of dreams are the same as they were in New Leaf, then players will be able to gather inspiration from other islands and download designs, even if the players are offline.
Nintendo’s announcement included information on how players can now back up their data online and recover it in case of damage or loss of a Nintendo Switch console. The company plans on introducing a feature to move saved data from one console to another later this year. The end of the announcement states that New Horizons’ next update will be this fall, and is hinted at being spooky themed. Until then, players have more than enough new sparkly things to keep them entertained. Sweet dreams!
